Learn the basics of burlesque movement and dance. Explore the concept of body awareness and acceptance.
Tuition: $45 per month (4 classes)
Payment is due the 1st day of class and will be made directly to instructor - cash preferred.
What is Burlesque? bur·lesque (bər-lĕsk′)
- A literary or dramatic work that makes fun of something, often by means of outlandish exaggeration.
- A ludicrous or mocking imitation; a travesty: The antics of the defense attorneys turned the trial into a burlesque of justice.
- A variety show characterized by broad ribald comedy, dancing, and striptease.
Performance opportunities
Performance opportunities will be by invitation of instructor only and participation is not required but it will be fun. Performances will include choreographed group dances and/or show "kittens" - girlies that help with props and costume retrieval. Kittens are a great way to have a lot of fun and ease into onstage work.
This class does not include strip tease; that is a very personal choice, but coaching is available only if requested.
Performances will be billed as Va Va Voom Variety Cabaret and performers will be known as the Vixens of Va Va Voom. Join us - we'll have fun! The 1st show will be "BURN, BABY, BURN: A DISCO INFERNO" - date & details to be announced.
