Tap & Intro to Dance
Jennifer Leyva hails from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and has been working in different aspects of the arts community for over 40 years.
She began her dance training at the age of three, studying various forms of dance from jazz, tap, and ballet to modern, African, and Flamenco and many more. She began teaching dance at the age of sixteen before attending the University of Central Oklahoma as a dance major. She is proud to have worked in arts management with programs including Six Flags America, Double JJ Ranch and Golf Resort, Artisan Center Theater and Upright Theatre.
As a performer, Jennifer has been featured in a wide variety of mediums from dance and musical theatre to stage combat and whip cracking and has been featured in such productions as Hello Dolly, Swing the Musical, To Kill a Mockingbird, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), Reckless,
Barefoot in the Park and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jennifer is also a choreographer in the DFW Metroplex having choreographed such productions as Camelot, Phantom the Musical, Scrooged, Sound of Music, Shrek the Musical, Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, Once on this Island, Aladdin Jr., High School Musical, Newsies, Into the Woods, Nunsense, Annie, The Rocky Horror Show and more.
Jennifer is currently training with Dance for Parkinson's, which brings dance and movement to those diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and is proud to work with dementia patients at the James L West Day Center and is so excited to return to Arts Fifth Avenue!
