Social Dance
Melinda fell in love with performing when she made the entire audience laugh during an elementary school play. Since then, she's worked through many of the performing arts - from playing flute in middle school, high school, and college, to acting and dancing (including performing on the dance team) in college. Then, after graduating with a "normal" degree in advertising and public relations, she became a professional ballroom dancer.
As a professional dancer, Melinda taught, performed, and competed in Ballroom, Latin, and Country Western dances. She won a Rising Star and an All Star award, and trained with many incredible dancers including World 10-dance Champion Jean-Marc Généreux. She's thrilled to share everything she's learned with her students here at Arts 5th Avenue!
In addition to dancing, Melinda is an actor who has been seen on the Bass Hall stage with the Fort Worth Opera, as well as in several locally filmed movies and TV shows, if you enjoy playing blurry Where's Waldo with the background actors. She especially loves being a Standardized Patient (real acting job as a fake patient for real medical students to practice with!) for the medical and nursing students of TCU and University of Minnesota.
In her free time, Melinda loves to drink coffee and crochet while watching cult documentaries. She also enjoys champagne and cooking indulgent foods.
